PRP, GFC and Exosomes: Understanding the Terminology
Share
Regenerative aesthetics uses several terms that should not be treated as interchangeable.
PRP and growth-factor concentrates
Platelet-rich plasma describes a blood-derived preparation containing an increased platelet concentration. Growth-factor concentrate is a broader commercial term whose composition depends on the preparation system.
What an exosome claim requires
Exosomes are a subtype of extracellular vesicles. Demonstrating that a preparation contains a defined population of exosomes requires appropriate characterisation.
A product name containing “EXO” does not independently establish its exosome concentration, purity or clinical effectiveness.
Review the preparation, then the claims
When evaluating preparation kits, clinicians should request validated processing information, sterility documentation, characterisation data and applicable regulatory details.
Research into platelet-based treatments continues, but claims about hair regrowth or exosome enrichment should be supported by evidence relevant to the specific preparation.
For NovaClin Labs EXO GFC, request current product documentation and availability information.
