PFD Patch vs Liquid PFD: Reading the Research
Share
PFD patch and liquid PFD are related research terms, but they do not identify the same supplied product. A clinic reading PFD tattoo-removal papers should record the format before interpreting the result.
What the topical-liquid study investigated
A controlled study published in 2013 investigated topical perfluorodecalin in laser tattoo-removal comparisons, including observations of immediate whitening and tattoo fading. That work concerned the particular liquid-based approach and laser methods described by the authors.
Read the topical PFD study for its actual design. Its findings should not automatically be described as measurements of every patch sold under the PFD category.
What the patch pilot investigated
A 2015 pilot study evaluated a specified transparent PFD-infused silicone patch in a split-tattoo comparison involving 17 participants and a Q-switched Alexandrite laser. It tested the named patch and protocol.
The patch study abstract identifies the comparison and population. These details belong with any summary of its findings.

NovaClin Labs lists PFD patches measuring 10 × 10 cm in boxes of ten. Request the current instructions and compatibility information for the supplied patch and your intended laser system.
Published liquid and patch studies do not establish that this product is equivalent to the materials studied. Product-specific information is needed for that assessment.
